Installing SPSS

When installing SPSS, following the general defaults should allow you to begin using the program.  

The UCLA Institute for Digital Research and Education has an  Installing SPSS guide that outlines Extension Programs, user-written programs for use with SPSS.

SPSS Enviroment

The SPSS Environment utilizes multiple types of windows/screens for basic operations. Each window is associated with a specific task and type of SPSS files.

Variables in SPSS

Variables are a vital part of all datasets within SPSS. They show how your research was conducted and determine the types of statistical analysis area appropriate. Variable types include numeric, comma, dot, date, etc.
