Cultural Groups in Central Ohio

Ohio Chinese American Association
The Ohio Chinese American Association (OCAA) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to unite Chinese Americans, raise awareness of the rights and obligations as an American citizen, and champion volunteerism and community service. More information can be found at its website ohiocaa.org.
Columbus Area Multi-Ethnic Organization (CAMEO)

The nine founding member associations of CAMEO are the:

African American Association
Columbus Chinese Association
Columbus Japanese Business Association
Columbus Latin American Association
Columbus Korean Association
Indian Association of Columbus
Middle Eastern Association
Pakistan Association
Trinbago Association

CAMEO was introduced to the Columbus area community in September 2009. Earlier in the year leaders of the founding member associations met together in a series of facilitated meetings to develop the structure, goals and mission of the umbrella organization. The CAMEO Board was helped in this process by Arlette Cooper-Tinsley, Executive Director of the Human Rights Commission and Tatiana Kovolou, Intercultural Training Professional.

Columbus hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year. Some of the most popular are:

Asian Festival
Asian Festival promotes the importance of cultural diversity in building a vibrant, prosperous and healthy community.
Festival Latino
Usually takes place in August with food, concerts, and dancing.
Dublin Irish Festival
One of largest Irish festivals in the country.
Greek Festival
Celebrate Greek culture with food, live music, and dancing.
