Troubleshooting Library Access Issues

Overview

The O'Reilly Learning Platform works differently than other library resources. You may be trying to access the O'Reilly Learning Platform to search for material, or using a link to a specific ebook or video on the platform. Either way, the method of accessing material through the Franklin University Library is the same. Use the steps on this page to resolve issues with the O'Reilly Learning Platform.

You can access materials without creating an O'Reilly account, but you will need an account to download materials and use the O'Reilly app. This page provides information on

  1. accessing materials without an O'Reilly account;
  2. accessing materials logging in with an O'Reilly account;
  3. troubleshooting tips if you are unable to access O'Reilly materials.

Accessing O'Reilly Learning Platform

You do not need to create an O'Reilly account to use ebooks on the O'Reilly Learning Platform -- only to access and download materials using the O'Reilly app. You can access O'Reilly content as follows:

  • When you click on an O'Reilly link, you will see a window telling you to "Sign in with your school or institution."

  • Type "Franklin University" in the school or institution box.

  • Enter your Franklin email address in the email address box.

  • Click the blue "Sign in" button.

  • If you do not have an O'Reilly account, it will open the material on the O'Reilly platform.

  • If you do have an O'Reilly account, it will take you to a login page. Enter your password and then click the blue sign in button to access your materials on O'Reilly. (If you can't remember your password, click on the "forgot password" link.)

Troubleshooting O'Reilly Learning Platform

  • If you previously used your Franklin University email address for a free trial on the O'Reilly Learning Platform, are unable to log in to O'Reilly using your Franklin University email, or receive a message that says "unable to create user", your O'Reilly account needs reset. Contact the library and we will ask them to fix your account.

  • The O'Reilly login is case sensitive - enter your email address using lowercase letters.
