Learning Commons Resources for Franklin Employees

The Learning Commons offers several services to faculty, adjuncts, and staff. The following list can help get you started.

Location & Hours

We're physically located on the first floor of Frasch Hall, but perhaps more importantly, we're only a phone call, email, or chat session away. 

As an employee of Franklin, you get access to a LOT. This guide will walk you through it. Among our services:

  • Electronic access to 120 databases, 300,000 ebooks, and 60,000 journal, magazine, and newspaper titles, from any computer. 
  • Access to 20,000 physical books, CD's, and DVD's in our library, plus 50,000,000 (yes, *million*) more through our membership in OhioLINK. 
  • Free WiFi, copying, printing, and faxing (sending only). 
  • 3 meeting rooms (reservations required) for individuals or groups. 
  • Knowledgeable professional librarians available all hours the library is open. 
  • Research assistance and project support.

During the Learning Commons operating hours, a librarian is available to help you with research and other library-related questions. While we are open every day of the week, our hours can vary due to holidays and the end of a term.

During the school terms, the we are open*:

  • Monday - Tuesday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. (Online assistance only)
  • Wednesday - Thursday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. 
  • Friday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (Online assistance only)
  • Sunday: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. (Online assistance only)
Please check the library's Hours & Holidays page for exceptions.
 
During class break weeks between trimesters, we are open:
  • Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.*

*Tutoring & Testing hours will differ.

Traditionally, we have been closed the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Reserve a Student Meeting Room

Meet in the library to collaborate on a group project. Reservations are strongly encouraged and must be made at least one day in advance. Groups may use a room without a reservation provided one is available.
