Franklin University's AI Policy

General Policy

Franklin University's Academic Misconduct Policy addresses the permitted use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by students at Franklin University.

Check with your instructor before using AI in a course. In many cases, the use of AI may be considered plagiarism. However, AI is a fast-changing area, so check the policy itself to be sure of what use of AI the University permits.

Doctoral Students

Doctoral students who are considering using AI should review the Doctoral Studies handbook for any additional policies related to the use of AI by doctoral students.

AI @ the Franklin University Library

The Franklin University's QuickSearch toolbar includes an AI Research Assistant, called "Primo Research Assistant." You can enter your research question using natural language and the research assistant will use AI to convert your topic to a search of library resources. The AI Research Assistant will return a summary of the 5 most relevant search results, and a link to see additional results.

If you are only using the AI assistant as a search tool, this should not cause any issue with the Franklin University AI policy. More information about how to use the QuickSearch AI assistant is available in the "Using QuickSearch" box on the library's "How to Search the Library Databases" page of the "How to Use the Library" Research Guide.
